Access Justice is a tax exempt public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Access Justice’s mission and commitment is to provide quality and affordable legal services to ordinary and unserved people of low- and moderate-income, and to small organizations (including nonprofits) of limited means. We offer direct legal representation, counsel, and litigation support on a wide variety of legal issues involving and/or affecting the public interest. Unserved individuals are poor, distressed and/or underprivileged persons, disadvantaged minorities, and nonprofit organizations with tax-exempt status as charitable organizations under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC).
We offer our legal services either without cost (pro bono), and/or at significantly-reduced and affordable hourly rates (low bono) to those who fall within 125%-350% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPG). For those low- and moderate-income clients for whom we provide legal assistance on a fee/hourly basis, our rates are never more than $99 per hour. Never.
Our intention is to secure adequate funding so that 80% or more of our legal services can be provided to unserved people whose income is between 125%-250% of the FPG. The other 20% of those currently unserved (those at 250%-300% of the FPG), will receive legal assistance for a modest fee or at rates that never exceed $99 per hour. Never.
Access Justice will also provide legal services on a low bono basis to unserved individuals who earn between 300%-350% of the FPG in certain limited situations; namely, where those clients face legal issues that could have devastating consequences without legal representation, such as foreclosure, eviction or bankruptcy.
To accomplish our goals to meet the legal needs of deserving individuals and organizations, we must rely on the generosity of our donors. We need and appreciate your tax-deductible contributions in any amount, $99**, $54*, $27*, or whatever you can provide to support our great work.
** Your generous tax-deductible donation of $99 to Access Justice will allow us to provide at least one hour (and usually more) of free legal services to one or more persons or organizations who urgently need and deserve legal assistance, but are unable to access it.
* Your contribution to Access Justice of $27 or more will allow us to better serve, and improve our ways of identifying, the unserved low- and moderate-income people who have no access to legal services and urgently need our quality, affordable legal help.
Access Justice has been approved by the IRS for tax exemption as a charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Accordingly, your contribution to Access Justice is tax-deductible on your income tax return.
